WARNING This is a novella. 18+ due to sexual situations. This is a 3 book series. This ends with a cliffhanger and the story will be continued in book 2.
There is a cliff hanger and part 2 will pick up there.
When Julia finds out her father is dying, she is devastated. He tells her his biggest regret is not getting the chance to dance with her at her wedding reception. So what does Julia do? She creates the perfect wedding reception. But there’s one problem. Julia doesn’t have a groom. Nonetheless, she plans a small wedding reception for close friends and family so her father will get his last dying wish. But when the press hears about the heartwarming story, Julia creates a media buzz. The story goes viral and her simple wedding reception goes from a backyard event to being hosted at one of the most elegant ballrooms in New York City. And when billionaire, Luke Ellison, enters the mix, the press goes wild. Can Julia fight her attraction toward a man who broke her heart so many years ago?
Groomless Part 1 edition by Sierra Rose Contemporary Romance eBooks
Writing was okay, plot okay, Charcters were generally engaging, but some inconsistencies and gaps that caused confusion combined with character motivation issues that left me feeling flat.Nothing inherently wrong with cliffhangers, but this isn't a cliffhanger, it's just a piece of a multi-part story that stops at a random point in the middle of the flow, without any tension to make me want to know what happens next. No sub-plots are resolved. Generally, there is no good reason for this to stand by itself.
The description is for the series a a whole, not this novella, so I was left disappointed that I never got to see what I was expecting. There is no media buzz in this part. There is no fake wedding reception in this part. There is no ballroon, no press frenzy and no sign of the billionaire yet in this part.
I think the author could use a better understanding of how a series works to engage readers, and what a cliff-hanger is.

Groomless Part 1 edition by Sierra Rose Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
Groomless is a wonderfully fast-paced, vivid and lovely tale, the beginning of a beautiful story. I was moved greatly by the mere premise of it, how Julia is ready to give her father his last dying wish. By the time it gets out of hand, from the press's involvement to the move of the wedding reception's venue to the dramatic appearance of Luke I couldn't put my down, and rushed to snatch the next in the series right away!
Sierra Rose did an anazing job with the starting book of this series. Just enough background and character development for a short, fast paced read to make you feel involved in their story! I have enjoyed every book of Sierra 's I have read, and once again she did not disappoint!
This first book was free...I am ready to see what is heading my way in book 2!
Romance is the name of the game in this book. This book delivers what we all want more romance and excitement in our life. Overall i am very well pleased with this book and the excitement it has brought me. This book had me unwilling to put it down until I turned the last page. Would I recommend this book to other people? Yes I would including friends .I absolutely think this is great book. All opinions are my own and they are not influenced by anyone but myself. If this review helped you at all please vote yes below.
I couldn't even make it past chapter 1 due to all the factual inaccuracies. It's not that I expect a research-driven masterpiece from these types of authors, but it's hard to suspend disbelief when the author comes off so incredibly ignorant and uninformed. I like to read for escapism, but I can't pretend to be an idiot who doesn't understand how the college application system works or that you need to attend college first and then apply to law school. When the author comes off as vapid, I don't hold out hope for the characters either and won't waste my time.
Groomless - Part 1 is the first novella in Sierra Rose's trilogy, and is light fare with a subtle bite, and a cliffhanger worthy of silent movies. This story is recommended for readers eighteen and older .Once you read the cliffhanger ending, you'll be racing to find the next installment...
Why?
Julia's father is dying and he has always dreamed of dancing with his daughter at her wedding reception. So Julia creates the wedding reception of Dad's dreams -- minus the groom. In the planning of this farce, so her father will have his dying wish, Julia creates a media buzz. Now the simple wedding reception, gone viral, is transplanted to New York City. Then billionaire Luke Ellison enters the mix... It sounds like a tv-movie already.
Fun and sexy, with a May/September twist.
The story was getting interesting. What I don't like is having a work that is a few chapters advertised as a "book" or "novela" with no warning before hand that it is unresolved and/or has a cliff hanger. It is unfair to readers! I don't mind paying for authors, when I am familiar with their work. I don't mind paying new authors 99 cents for short stories so I can become familiar with their writing. I don't like being "nickel and dimed to death" (or charged 99 cents, then $1.99, then $2.99, etc) for subsequent books that are part of the same story line--and they each end with a cliff hanger until the last book is purchased. Not for me thank you.
Major Spoilers below. I tell you how it ends, but only because it will explain why I was disappointed.
This felt all over the place. I love the prologue of the heroine and hero. These are the type of second chance stories, I love.
Julia and Luke are sweethearts who plan to build a life together even though they are going to separate colleges. Luke however, stops the relationship with Julia shortly after they graduate. Then 5 years later, Julia's father is dying, he wants a daddy/daughter dance so Julia plans a fake wedding. Well as Julia is trying on wedding dresses, Luke sees Julia though the window and goes into the bridal store and says "hi" and a bunch of nonsense. That was the ending of book 1. It was a weak cliffy. I love a good cliffy. Love them, but this was weak.
Luke makes no effort in the 5 years to communicate with Julia. It is not as if he mistakenly heard that Julia was getting married and wanted to stop the wedding because he loved her. No, he saw her through the window and came in. Then he just accepts what she has to say and that is it. No big deal for Luke.
Why did Luke not call her if he was in town?!?! Why did he not reach out to her?!?! He is a wishy-washy hero in my opinion. You may love this book, but it is not for me. I love second chances, but this was too wishy-washy for me. Maybe the reader will be given more in book 2, but I needed more in book 1 to waste my precious reading time. You may think Luke is great. I am not telling you not to read it. I am just stating why I did not care for the characters. Also, I think that a lot of the dad and the planning of the fake wedding could have been cut in half.
Writing was okay, plot okay, Charcters were generally engaging, but some inconsistencies and gaps that caused confusion combined with character motivation issues that left me feeling flat.
Nothing inherently wrong with cliffhangers, but this isn't a cliffhanger, it's just a piece of a multi-part story that stops at a random point in the middle of the flow, without any tension to make me want to know what happens next. No sub-plots are resolved. Generally, there is no good reason for this to stand by itself.
